The idea of Windsor Forest was first conceived in 1959 on a 115-acre tract. By 1965, almost 400-acres had been purchased, totaling thirteen tracts. A preliminary plan for 462-lots on 350 acres was drawn and approved that year. Twenty-five acres were given to Jefferson County for Windsor Park. Also, in 1965, the first section including 76 lots was put to record, the Declaration of Restrictions was recorded, and Windsor Forest Association was incorporated. Since that time, seven additional sections have been recorded, for a total of 452 lots developed.
Windor Forest Now
Windor Forest is located on Louisville's South side near many parks and some of Louisville's most famous attraction such as Churchill Downs. It's called Windsor Forest for a reason. The trees that line the neighborhood are mature and full in the Summer and colorful in the Spring and Autumn. They are filled with many birds including cardinals and robins. We even have many hummingbirds visit our homes. The neighborhood center is our lake. Clean and pleasent , It's a place were residents can relax, picnic, or even enjoy some fishing. Children can play on the playground equipment. The neighborhood is established, one of the first planned neighborhoods in the area. The homes are well kept. We take pride in our homes and property and it shows.
